Play Date Etiquette
Posted by Kym under General
I have to admit that I am to the point now where I only do a few play dates with a few choice moms who I admire their parenting style and I can tolerate it. (You know who you are.) I have to be with a mom who doesn’t mind if I suggest to their kid that they “use their words” if they are whining. I have to be with a mom who doesn’t freak out over every tiny little child altercation. I have to be with a mom who is secure with her parenting abilities. I have to be with a mom who isn’t afraid to their child or mine… the dreaded word “no”. I have to be with a mom who doesn’t cave just because their child throws a fit. Etc Etc.
But… I began to wonder today… what is the proper etiquette for play dates for the rest of the world? How do other mom’s feel about mommy’s who correct their little angels? Where do you draw the line… when do you step up to the plate and when do you stand in the shadows and let the other mom handle it? And what do you do if a mom corrects your kid and you don’t agree with the correction?
None of this happened today… I had a great play date. I just wonder what others think. And maybe someone will actually leave me some comments to quench my burning need for knowledge!
