Is it too much to ask that I don’t have to micromanage EVERY aspect of our families existence? Are my hormones in an uproar? Maybe I’m overrun by grief. I know I need to just let little things go but please — just let me kvetch for a moment ok?

We pay our bills online, so I only use stamps for the occasional bill and cards. A few weeks ago, I asked my loving husband to pick up some stamps at the post office. He understands why we use stamps. He knows we pay bills online. He has an IQ over 140.

What does he come back with? Yes friends… UGLY Chinese New Year Monkey Stamps.

I am as culturally diverse as the next person. But as I was having to use these ugly things on the FIVE condolence cards I was sending I was irritated. Why you ask?

1. They are ugly.
2. Chinese New Year is LONG PAST OVER.
3. We don’t celebrate Chinese New Year.
4. Did I mention they are UGLY?

Why couldn’t he have picked out something generic? Why did he have to be the adolescent boy and pick out the MONKEY stamps just cause they have a monkey.

As I was bitching about it this morning, his response was “it’s just stamps!” Of course I didn’t let it go at that. And then he responded with “Well at least I’ve given you something to blog about!”

As it is said, so shall it be done.
