School Days, School Days…
Posted by Kym under General
Got the kids up early and we went to school for the 8:30am meet and greet. Dinara’s teacher seems really nice. I think I’m going to like her. I’ll get a better sense tonight at the Kindergarten Orientation, but she scores points for active listening and wanting to get Dinara tested sooner rather then later for her memory issues.
Emma’s teacher was organized. She seemed nice although I didn’t get much of a chance to speak with her 1 to 1. The class has a bunny and that made a big impression on Dinara. Too bad it’s not her class. Emma is ready to get back to school. There are 26 kids in her class though. That seems like a lot. How big are your kids class sizes? Dinara’s has 20. I could go on a rant here about what are my property taxes paying for…but I’ll spare you.
Then I spent the morning collating first day packets for the PTSA. We had a lot of volunteers so we were able to get through it in a few hours. I’m feeling better about the PTSA this year. We seem to be “coming together” as a team and that is positive. A certain person who hated the PTA president quit, and I have to say, it’s been nicer so far without her.
Then this afternoon I took the girls with Kim to see Princess Diaries II. It was predictable and a little slow in parts. But my 7 year old loved it. And as a mom, I can’t hate a movie where the message is: “You don’t have to have a man to get what you want”.
Then tonight I have Kindergarten orientation. And then I will man the PTSA table afterwards and try to up membership. It’s a full day.
And a week from tomorrow my son gets his cast off!
And a week from Monday we leave for Disney World!
I haven’t told the teachers yet about Disney. I figure I’ll let their first impression of me as a parent be my PTA-ness and adorable kids. I’ll win them over before I drop the bomb that I am going to pull my kids out of their structured routine for two weeks. They are gonna love me.
