Perfect Evening
Tonight is a perfect evening. Perfect in that I don’t have to scurry to go some where. I don’t have phone calls to return. I don’t have gifts to be wrapped for birthday parties tomorrow. We have no practices tonight or tomorrow. It was a beautiful sunny […]

Double the Laundry, Double the Fun
How do you teach 6 and 7 year olds that it’s better to fold up clean clothes they decided not to wear versus put them in the laundry hamper (or on the floor!). Because throwing them in the laundry is easier, that’s what my kids tend to do. So I […]

Entertaining En Masse
Tell me about how normal people entertain. Someone educate me.
I have very distinct groups of friends. I have my liberal friends. I have my conservative friends. I have friends from my kid’s school. I have my international adoption group friends. I have friends from when […]

Lucky you, I’m bored.
So it’s 10:25pm and there is nothing on TV. I mean nada. So here I am.
My husband did something sweet for me. I have been wanting an Ipod for about a year. He bought me one. No reason. Just because he loves me. Isn’t that […]

Hotdogs and Viruses
Emma is home with Coxsackie Virus today. I could really alter the spelling of that virus to more adequately describe how we feel about it in this house. It’s a horrid virus. Makes everyone feel yuck, run temps, sores in the mouth, hurts to eat. Awful.
Well […]

Typical Little Humans
When Emma got home from school when she was in Kindergarten, she would melt down a lot. You know… crying, whining… meladrama bigtime. No real reason mind you, just regular meltdowns. We were miserable. She just seemed completely unable to control her emotions and everything, good or […]

Death by Infection
As I reflect on the loss of Christopher Reeve, I can’t help taking the information of how he died to heart. He had an infection from a pressure sore, he went into cardiac arrest, then into a coma and died. He was 52.
My mom is battling an infection […]

I thought I was smart
This year I didn’t buy Halloween Candy early. In a bid to save myself from devouring the chocolates before the big day, I decided I would buy them last minute.
This was a good plan.
Except now I am craving chocolate in a big way.
And there is no chocolate here.

Little Snippets of my Life
Noah was up really early this morning. When my husband got up at 7am Noah was in the playroom watching TV. He told me he watched Winnie the Pooh, JoJo, another show he couldn’t remember and that House of Mouse didn’t come on. That means he was up at least […]

Fall is here!
Well the parental units are here and they aren’t driving me crazy yet. Dad is in amazingly good spirits. The best I have seen him in since 2000. He’s been very affectionate and interative with the kids and seems almost himself.
Tonight I bailed on my parents and […]

Tooth Fairy Goodbye
The alarm clock rang early. I don’t remember hitting the snooze button. When it went off again I was instantly awake. I didn’t know it, but today my eldest daughter was going to give up a long held childhood belief.
I went to the bathroom, ran a brush […]

Kid Humor
Emma in Walmart to her Dad this weekend: Hey lets rollback all the signs like that bouncing yellow thing in the commercials!
We are driving and Noah and Dinara are next to each other in carseats in the minivan’s second row. Dinara is screeching about Noah touching her. I am yelling at […]

Turkish Decision
Tomorrow there is a Turkish festival in Seattle. We’ve been invited by some of our friends to join them in the celebration. Never you mind that our kids aren’t Turkish… we simply are striving to find some way to celebrate our children’s cultural heritage and I guess this is as […]

Breech
Last week la familia went to a Harvest Festival and they had one of these “blow-up-moonwalk-type-haunted-house” things. Hubby went in it with the kiddos and Momma manned the camera. Sometimes, the perfect funny picture just presents itself, ya know?
I call this one BREECH.

Slice of Life
I had such a nice relaxing weekend. It was sad because my husband had to work and I missed him being around, but it so good to just “be”. What did I accomplish this weekend?
My bedroom is completely clean. Baseboards wiped down, everything dusted, all furniture moved out awaiting […]

Pasta e Fagioli Soup
I love Olive Garden’s Pasta e Fagioli Soup! This is the receipe I use to recreate it in my own kitchen. I add extra beans and meat - skip the pasta… and like it thick. It freezes well!
1 pound ground beef1 small onion, diced (1 cup)1 large carrot, julienned (1 cup)(I […]

Dryer question
Ok… So… can you guys tell me how long it takes your dryer to dry a large load of white clothes? Darks?
I think something is wrong with my dryer but I hate to call out a service guy if I just have misplaced expectations.
Although I’ve been coveting one of these big […]
