So last night my husband took me out for Valentines. He did all the planning. He arranged for a babysitter. He made the appointment for couple massages at the spa. He called the hotel and made reservations. He didn’t make reservations for dinner, but I didn’t think it would be a big deal because the restaurant is usually dead since it’s a new place. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. But first, let me start at the beginning.

My God, I love spas. We went there first. It’s this beautiful place. With backlit water moats throughout. Candles. Cucumber water. And serenity music. It’s so soothing there. Last Valentines Day was hubby’s first trip to a spa. I planned out an incredible day and he was instantly converted. He loved all the pampering. He loved the way my skins feels in a steam shower and how those little white waffle robes turn me on. He loved everything from the sound of running water, to the dimmed lights, to the females rubbing lotions on your body. He used to think spas were just for girls, but he’s gone all metrosexual on us. He loves them now. And even though he thought he’d lose points lemming my brilliant Valentines Day gift from last year, he enjoyed it so much, he decided it was worth it to do it again this year. It’s just something we both really enjoy.

So we had massages and they were wonderful. Every time we go to the spa we talk about how we really must add a “spa line item” into the budget. We should be doing this regularly. At the very least, we have decided that spa days are now part of our Valentines Day tradition. Let’s face it; an hour massage beats a Hallmark Card!

Then we went to the hotel. We checked in and the front desk ladies were very nice. The hotel was very busy due to the holiday. We asked about dinner. They told us there was a long wait for the restaurant and the wait would be at least 2 hours. I was starving, but decided since we couldn’t stay the night, this might actually work out better then I anticipated anyway. And you know, tummy rumbling is such a turn on during sex.

So we went upstairs and had ourselves a romantic evening. Hubby enjoyed the little presents I bought for us at Lover’s Package. And no, I won’t describe them or rate them on my blog.

Then we got dressed and went downstairs. They seated us fairly quickly but it took over an hour before we even saw a basket of bread. Seemed like two hours because we were so hungry. Hubby ordered a medium steak. 2 ½ hours later they delivered him one char roasted. He sent it back. We finally got out of there after 3 hours. And to compensate us for all their screw ups and slow service, they gave us our expensive dinners and desserts, for half price. And a couple of free movie passes. Nothing like getting a free dinner and some free stuff to take the sting out of bad service. But it got even better!

John was too shy to go check out of the hotel considering we had just checked in. And the express checkout on the TV wouldn’t work since we hadn’t been there long enough. So I told him to go get the car and I would do it. The front desk people who checked us in were still there. Lucky me. And some bell guy who was standing around pretending to look interested. I just took a deep breath and told them I wanted to go ahead and check out.

They asked me if everything was ok. I looked at them with a slight smile and told them we didn’t have a babysitter for the evening, so alas, we must check out. They gave me a knowing chuckle, like “oh… you were just here to get laid!” and the manager looked at me sympathetically and asked if I had even had a chance to use the room. I told her yes, before dinner. The other girl then quipped “Did you enjoy your dinner?” I replied that we had, but it was very busy tonight and the meal took over 3 hours, but it was delicious as always. The manager then told me that she was going to give us the room free!

So let’s recap. Spa. Massage. Sex. Half Price Dinner and Dessert. Free Movie Tickets. Free Hotel. So all in all, a very nice evening. I guess sex is even sweeter when it’s at a discount.
