Noah Bragging
Posted by Kym under Kids and Hubby
My son Noah will be 5 in July. Sometimes I forget he’s just four. I was unable to go to his preschool conference when I had the flu so they wrote up his progress report for me. So, I’m going to share it and brag for a moment ok?
Dear Kym and John,
Noah has been a dedicated student. He reads well – recently working on reading words that have a silent e. His penmanship is good. He is using the table movable alphabet to construct sentences and then, with a little help in capitalization and spelling, he transcribes the sentences on lined paper.
He does addition with two, three and four digit numbers and subtraction with one digit numbers. He also has worked on the 100 board. He has shown an interest in telling time and does it well.
Memorizing continents, countries and states seems to be very easy and enjoyable for him.
Noah definitely does extremely well when having an adult near at hand to answer questions and to affirm him.
Noah has exceptional social skills and is very positive influence on those of us who have the privilege to be in his company.
Thank you for sharing your lovable and hard working son with us. He will be missed next year, but a great gift to his next school
With best regards,
Sandy
Noah especially loves geography right now. We were at Outback Steak House a few months ago and he saw the Foster’s Beer sign. It had an outline of Australia, and Noah saw it and said “Look at that light of Australia Mom!” He recognized the continent just from the shape! The other day, he brought home a map he colored in of Central America and proceeded to name off all the countries. How many 25 year olds can point to where El Salvador is on a map! He seems to have a real gift for memorization.
Beauty, charm and brains… he’s going to go far in this life.

Aren’t they amazing at this age? Gabriella is also very interested in geography! I never would have thought to teach it to her if she hadn’t started talking all about it!
WTG Noah!!!

How cool is that?
(laughing about the Beer sign, though)
We were at a coffee shop yesterday and my son had to go to the bathroom, so I sent him down the hall. He came back and said “I can’t tell which one to go in.”
They put a picture of a girl on the girls room, and a picture of a boy on the boys room. He wasn’t sure what that meant.
Mensa has been calling me constantly, btw…

Wow. Noah has a gift — without a doubt. I have a memory for numbers. I can’t purge them. I can go through the entire grocery store, shop and when I get to the counter, I can remember the price of every item!

My Talyn was a nut for geography when he was little. Wants to go into politics now.
Keep offering him lots of learning experiences outside of school - they tend to hold them back in older grades when they are bright. It will be up to you to keep exposing him to new and interesting information.
