Hot Hot Hot

Noah had us all up at 6:30 this morning. Apparently he saw a spider in the bathroom that warranted that we all get up and look at it. Or at least, his sister needed to come kill it for him. And then when they ran away after killing it and slammed Noah’s bedroom door, then the rest of us got up. Lovely way to start my 4 day busy weekend with the kiddos.
First I have to run by the school to take some pictures of my kids getting in and out of a car correctly to put in our School Safety Valet brochure for next year. One remains ever hopeful that if we take pictures of the things you are supposed to do and pictures of what you are NOT supposed to do… you will actually… maybe… just do it. Will people feel insulted we have resorted to visual aids? Will examples of letting your child out of the car onto oncoming traffic instead of onto the sidewalk actually sink in? One can remain ever hopeful.
After our school foray, we are on our way to go to one of those birthday party places to jump around an Inflatable Slide Mecca. My kids are very excited. The fact they have been there a handful of times over the past year for birthday parties makes no difference. This is PumpItUp. And all is right with the world when they visit there. Our Kazakhstan adoption group is meeting there and we always enjoy spending time with our friends. Then we are heading to a park to sweat play in the sunshine and eat a picnic.
Then we are rushing back to meet Daddy to go get the kids passports. Can’t get passports for kids without both parents present or some notarized forms. Lest you want to haul your children to another country without the other parent knowing it… seems smart although I’m not loving that rule today. Since the two younger kids weren’t born on US soil, I figure having a passport isn’t a bad idea. They became US Citizens through adoption when they entered the country but we’ve never paid to get the certificate of citizenship. I always assumed I’d just get a passport (easier paperwork hoops!). So now that we are going to Mexico in July, seems like a good as time as any to just go do it. I don’t want to have be hauling around the adoption decrees and supporting documentation on why they are citizens without special paperwork.
Then I think we are going to go out to eat. It’s just too freaking hot to cook. It’s supposed to get to 93 or so today. I do love summer, but not this much summer. Hello! It’s MAY! The record for today? 85. Think we’ll blow that one out of the water. And speaking of records, that central AC we are buying? Yeah that won’t be here till next Friday.
Emma has a Pump It Up Birthday Party on Sunday night… I’m hoping she forgets. One trip to Pump It Up in a weekend is enough. I’m feeling antisocial. (So what else is new Kym?)
When it’s hot, there is no real introspection kids. Just boring day to day stuff…

maybe if you take a pic of the kid going “splat” under oncoming traffic….that would be a fake kid by the way….some parents are soooo stupid.
“pump it up” just sounds headache inducing….good luck!
