Hurricane Thoughts part III
Posted by Kym under General
There is no part II btw. I wrote a post in response to Rachel’s comment below, but have decided to not publish it. It’s simply not the time for me to be spewing my thoughts on personal responsibility. As Matt Lauer said… use your energy to inspire or critisize. I’d like to err on inspire.
So I thought I’d pass along what our PTSA is considering doing. We are going to have a “make a care package” night and have the kids make care packages in shoe boxes for kids at a shelter. Of course it’s still in the idea phase… but it’s nice because it also gives an opportunity for the kids to work on something tangible for the kids who are in a shelter.
Anyway… sharing that thought is way better then sharing my anger spew on personal responsibility
Let’s hope our government is getting their act together…

You are truly a class act. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
I love your PTA idea. We do hygeine boxes for the homeless in Girl Scouts every year (and get most of the stuff from the dollar store or donated.) I think its a brilliant idea to have the kids assemble them, and they can enclose a letter or art work, or decorate the box. That would give them a service activity, a writing activity and an art activity all in one, and a chance to express their feelings about all this scary stuff that everyone is talking about.
That school is lucky to have you!!
