Tomorrow I leave paradise. Other then missing the kids, it has been the perfect trip in every sense. Perhaps it would have been more perfect if the kids had been with us for part of the time. However if they had been with us there would have been many things we would have difficulty doing. Scuba lessons, spa, late fancy dinners and daily sex. The sacrifices we make in the name of pleasure- right?

What is it about time in Hawaii that makes it the ultimate vacation experience? I think for me it has been the torrent of pleasure strumming my senses. Beauty is found in the details. The smell of gardenia and frangi pani as you take a walk. The sound of the pounding surf that lulls you to sleep each night. The feel of the swirling water or the warm breezes through your hair. The sight of majestic palms swaying in the breezes silhouetted against brilliant sunsets. Tastes of fresh seafood prepared in one of my favorite ways… pan Asian flair. I mean really… it’s nirvana. Around every corner you almost expect to see a snake with an apple… because amongst all this pleasure surely there has to be temptation in this Garden of Eden.

We do miss the kiddos. We’ll get home very late tomorrow. My mom has been feeding them nonstop. I wont stress out on my vacation worrying about how she has probably undone all the hard work Emma has struggled with…. In a few short days. How can I fault her when food is how she shows love?

Ok so my restaurant recommendation is Joe’s in Wailea. Absolutely WONDERFUL food. The Pumpkin Crusted Mahi Mahi was to die for… the sauce was exquisite. If you go before 6:30 (get your order into the kitchen before that time… all entrees are half price. It was the best food we had on the island. And Im pretty sure they got their sourdough bread recipe straight from San Francisco!

Tomorrow John and I are going to get up early, go for a quick snorkel trip, eat a grand buffet breakfast then leave for the airport. I’ll be sad to go,,,
