Everything that happened before this post

I could write about this wonderful parenting moment I had with my kids this morning. But it would take too long to explain. In a nutshell though, I was able to get across to my kids how sorry doesn’t fix everything if you don’t validate someone’s anger. And if you leave anger invalidated… it grows and resurfaces later. It was a very powerful lesson and I was feeling like super mommy. If I wasn’t so lazy, I’d share my wonderful moment but you are just going to have to believe me it was amazing. It was like mommy Grammy material.
Then I went and did the Driveway Valet at school. Always fun. Actually today wasn’t too bad. Everyone followed the rules I care about.
Then I went out to breakfast with a friend who was upset. That was very nice. Not that she was upset, but that we bonded over breakfast and I was able to be there for her in some small way. And she was there for me too… so it was a nice morning. The friendship has potential.
Then I went and volunteered in Noah’s class. That was a lot of fun. I spent the whole day at school yesterday going to every class hyping the kids up for a fundraiser on Weds and Thursday, and all the kids felt like they knew me and were coming up to me telling me they were going to participate and stuff. It was rewarding. And I got to spend some quality time talking with Noah’s teacher who I like.
Then I went and worked out. And I did 35 minutes on the elliptical machine! And I didn’t feel like I was going to die afterwards! That still amazes me. It amazes me that for once, my body isn’t letting me down. I feel so strong. I love it! And then I did weights for 40 minutes. Yay me!
Then I ran to the grocery store and bought a ton of fresh produce. I’m going to really try to focus on eating healthy the next few weeks and see if maybe I can drop a few pounds. It’s hard, because at night I tend to indulge. And I just don’t seem to be that motivated to lose weight…. I don’t know why. I feel like I’ve “done my time”…. But my body would be so much better if I could get 25 pounds off!!
Then I went and picked up my kids and took my bestest friend some magazines, tea, chicken soup and Oreos. She’s come down with a bad virus and she’s not a patient that goes genteelly into the whole illness thing. Like most moms, she denies she is sick till she’s so sick she can barely move. So I am hoping she will feel better soon.
Then I made dinner. Salmon. Dill Sauce. Broccoli. Rice. Yum.
Then I did some flyers and signage for the fundraiser tomorrow.
Then I ate a bowl of ice cream.
And I sat down to write this blog post.

Heh. I still haven’t been able to teach my 14yo that lesson. Can you come to my house?
