I ran 1.5 miles without stopping today!
Posted by Kym under General, Weightloss & Excercise
Emma was up last night several times with a sore throat and an ear infection. So we are off to the doctor this morning. And they better not give me the “virus” speil. Don’t you find it very unsatisfying to haul into the doctor and then they don’t give you any pills to fix it? It’s like… HEY BUSTER… you work for ME! Gimme some damn drugs! I mean in 3rd world countries they can just walk into a pharmacy and get antibotics… are they better educated over there then North Americans? How come THEIR doctors aren’t as worried about the uneducated self medicating?
I ran 1.5 miles today WITHOUT STOPPING. Yay me. This is a milestone. On Monday I couldn’t run 4 minutes. Strange how one day my body doesn’t give me issues and another day it does. And this was even after many sleep interupts last night with Emma. I felt so good… I remember when it ticked over a mile… and I really thought to myself “You could have NEVER done this before”. I’m very proud of me.
I have to go buy stuff to make Kazakh tea for our school’s multicutural fair. I also need to buy something to hold enough tea for 400 people. And I need to print signs. And I need to layout the signs. And I need to figure out what the signs are going to say.
I went to a Creative Memories scrapbook thing last night. It was motivating. I really need to get back into the groove. Why is it that I can’t allow myself to do cool creative stuff until all the other little to do items are off my list?
Have a nice day everyone!

For hypothetical gastrointestinal bug:
U.S.:
Call doctor’s office, wait on hold, make appointment, wait a day or two in misery, drive to doctor’s office, spend 15 minutes filling out paperwork, wait for half an hour in waiting room, see nurse for five minutes, wait for half an hour in exam room, see doctor for two minutes, receive prescription for Cipro. Pay $150 to see doctor. Drive to pharmacy, pay $80 for ten pills. Total cost for ten pills: $230. Average annual income: roughly $26,000 after taxes. Percentage of annual income spent on prescription: nearly 1%.
India:
Walk directly to pharmacy, ask for Ciprofloxacin, pay 7 rupees per pill. Total cost of prescripton: $1.55. Average annual income: roughly $360, not taxed. Percentage of annual income spent on prescription: less than one-half of 1%.
