I’m home. And can I just say, I’m so glad to be home! I love the Pacific Northwest. And although I love traveling with my family, seeing my family and visiting different places - nothing feels as good as coming home to the place where I feel so comfortable. I just love it here.

Had a great vacation. Highlights were that we spent lots of time with family. My dad’s Alzheimer’s is really progressing, but he was still able to be very present with my kids. Actually, he was better this trip then some of the others. He is very suggestible, so it made for easy transitions. He played with the kids a lot and they had a great time.

I went shopping in Florida during their tax break (no sales tax!) for school clothes. That was great fun. I think most of the kids school shopping is done.

We went to the Bahamas. We visited the Pink Sands on Harbor Island. It was incredibly overpriced and I wouldn’t recommend it. Take the same amount of money and head to a Four Seasons or a real boutique hotel. We discovered while we were there that Island Outpost is actually selling the property and we think that maybe that was part of the problem. The beach was one of the most gorgeous in the world, but that was the only thing that exceeded our expectations.

I spent much of my vacation handling house issues. Giving the property manger the “final warning”. Firing the pool company. Dealing with a pool leak. Regrouting the tile on the vanishing edge. Multiple trips to home depot. Washing curtains and bed linens. Showing the house. I am pretty sure that the house is not going to sell unless we drop our price so we are gearing up for rental season. I suspect we’ll own it a few more years. And I am psyching myself up for continuing this “part-time job”.

Went out on my sister’s boat. We went to this sandbar out in the middle of the gulf and we found conch, starfish, clams, crabs, hermit crabs… kids loved it. Very educational. We also saw manatee and dolphins. It was hot, but nice to spend some time with my sister.

I worked out most of my vacation. 1 mile swim in the ocean. 30 minute run on the beach. 1 ½ workout everyday at the gym in Cape Coral. Even took a power lift class. I came home to what looks like a massive drop in my body fat. I am not going to post how much till I am sure it’s verifiable. I have one of those scales that shoot electricity through your body and calculate the fat versus lean body mass. But there are many variables in the computations… like hydration. So I’m going to wait and see how it trends out over the next few days. I did run 3 miles several times…. And I actually broke a 14 minute mile. (13.55) So I am happy that I am able to SEE progress. Running progress is so slow.

That’s about it. The vacation was good…. But very busy. I’ll try to post some pictures later.
