Today is a day of errands and crossing things off my to do list. I’m getting ready for my trip to Chicago on Thursday to get the puppy. We are getting the first pick Blenheim puppy. (Red and White). And we are going with the name Denali. We are very excited. I’ll get back very late Thursday night.
I’m happy because we figured out that my seat on the plane in both directions has a “car adaptor” outlet which means I can run my Ipod video without worrying about battery life. So I have downloaded a few shows to watch. Does anyone have any opinions on Dirt? I also downloaded the Dalai Lama’s “Secret to Happiness” book. The preview on Itunes was him talking about focusing on what makes us the same instead of differentiating us by focusing on what makes us different. Love that! So nice to think about how I want to spend my quiet hours alone!
John and I went and saw The Queen this weekend. I highly recommend the movie. I thought it was really well acted. The beauty was in the director’s details not in the screenplay itself. Well worth seeing though. And I think Mirren completely deserves the Best Actress nod.
This week is really busy for me so I don’t know how much blog time I will have. I am hoping to get in a run this week before my trip - but I can already tell this week is not going to hit 10 miles. Also since a couple people emailed me with pain suggestions for my “soreness” I wanted to remind folks that I can not take Nsaid pain relievers. When I have broken down and taken motrin, I feel much better. But I need pain solutions that are not focused on advil, aleve and the like. And yes, Arnica does help.
Tomorrow I am putting on the Staff Appreciation Luncheon at school. The theme is “There is no SUBstitute for you” and we are serving meatball subs and salad. Isn’t that cute? I still need to make the signage and gather up the decorations.
Those Dream Dinners I talked about? Although I love having everything ready to go and the decisions for dinner done… the “tastes” have been hit or miss. I think I’m too much of a control freak to give up my dinner control. But I am going to try it one more month and see how it goes.
Have a good week everyone! I’ll try to post some pictures of our new little guy this weekend.

Well, as far as “Dirt” goes, I was just flipping channels when I caught sight of Courtney slipping a vibrator down her panties… no thanks. My 11-yo was in the room at the time; thankfully he didn’t have time to see or ask what she was doing before I changed the channel.

For the soreness, I recently made a switch to Omega 3/6/9 fatty acids. I read an article in Prevention magazine that reported on a study where people took a supplement instead of NSAIDS and after 1 mo they had just as effective of pain control as they had with the NSAIDs. Maybe you can google the article? Anyway, it was really exciting for me because Omega’s are also thought to help depression, heart disease, cholesterol, etc. The supplement they mention is an “ultra” concentrated, double strength one, so that’s what I got to try. It has fish oil, flax seed oil and borrage oil. The jury is still out for me, but I do think I feel somewhat better. It might be worth a try.
Topically, arnica is great for sore muscles. That one, I know!
(Great job on all the running!!)
